" Nice accommodations. I hate hotels, preferring more of a residence feel, and this cottage was so homey and nice. The garden is right outfront and its fun to be on a farm. Location about 15-20 mins from Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco, there are hiking trails within walking distance, Nancy is a gracious host. What more can I ask for? Already planning our next stay. " 5+++ The place is great. We stayed for a month. Very comfortable, fully equipped with everything including board games, puzzles, books, and plenty of extra quilts for cool nights (we were there in February). Ask for a soup pot and Nancy brings you one right away! Nancy is friendly and interesting and I really enjoyed talking to her. She easily accommodated my friend's need for medical equipment (oxygen). Ron was available instantly for a blown fuse. Chickens and pigs and cats are great. It was just the kind of quiet place that suits me. Will definitely go back. "

" Nancy was an outstanding host, and the studio was so perfect for our stay. Having the garden was such an incredible bonus! Fresh veggies, fresh eggs, oh my! We will definitely be going back. Nancy also recommended a great restaurant in town (Boca) where the we enjoyed fabulous steak, wine and dessert. Can't wait to visit again! "

" This was our 5th time in Hawaii and we decided to try something different from hotel life in Waikiki. And we made the right decision. There are at least 3 malls in the area where we could shop, eat, get take out. It only takes 20 minutes to get to Honolulu without going into Waikiki traffic. We were mostly gone during the day but we were always in no rush to get somewhere as we had plenty of space to move around in at the house. We stayed with John & Terri for a week. We had a wonderful stay at their residence. Our mornings were easy with our enjoyable conversations with John, who teaches music lessons at home and with Terri who has a fulltime job but telecommutes. We took our time at breakfast and on occasion listened to the piano and voice lessons. We were free to come and go and use the accessible spaces which were all well furnished and stocked, the studio, the lanai, the kitchen, the patio, the front porch and the laundry which made it a home away from home. The bedroom was comfortable and the private washroom was clean and well stocked. They even have bathrobes if you are into that! Our evenings were relaxed and stress free. I loved reading on the front porch or in the studio with the trade winds cooling the air. The pets (the bird, the cat and the dog) were bonuses for me as we have our own dog. Even our visit to the beach was easy with all the supplies that John brought out for us mats, snorkels, fins, towels, body boards! We are especially thankful for their accommodation of our really late arrival (way past midnight!). I didn’t imagine we would be that late! It takes trust to have people in your home and they certainly showed that. We will be back for sure! "

" "Comfortable and quiet home away from home!" This home is very convenient for a stay on the North Shore with a view of the mountains and a peek at the ocean. The beds are comfy and the kitchen nicely equipped for simple food preparations. We enjoyed the walks to the beach and the cliff view. Liz communicates well and responded quickly to our questions. This is a great value for a family or small group, with plenty of privacy. "

" A gem of a place to stay while visiting Point Reyes and environs. Quiet, well-appointed with a comfortable bed, living room with sofa and chairs, small, but adequate kitchen (gas range, small fridge, microwave, pots/pans, plates, glasses, cups, silverware, etc.) Bathroom is also good, with a sink, toilet and shower. Just outside the cottage is a sitting area with comfortable lawn furniture and a table. The owner is a highly accomplished artist; some of her work is on display in the cottage. The remainder is in the main house in the front, which doubles as an art gallery. Everyone connected to this place is extremely friendly and helpful (apples from the orchard out back were offered, as was advice for hiking the area). Highly recommended. "

" My family and I came from Boston, Tampa, and Durango, Co for a wedding and a family reunion in Novato. We were NOT wanting to do the typical hotel for this special time. We found the Farm and Nancy and were thrilled with everything! Her home is impeccable, unique, and very comfortable. The grounds are wonderful with organic veggies and beautiful flowers everywhere. Farm fresh eggs were available to us for breakfast. We really enjoyed meeting the potbelly pigs, so cute! Thank you to Nancy and her staff for providing this house. It made our time together special, stress-free and fun! "

WELCOME to your secluded cottage on a private lane in northwest Santa Rosa where you are near public transportation, just a few minutes from downtown

Updated: June 24, 2012

" For the price, this is a 5 star property. My elderly mother in-law and my sister in-law came from Australia to visit for a month and we just didn't have anywhere in our small house to give them a comfortable stay. I was wary about paying the accommodation costs on-line but the staff at Crash My Pad satisfied my questions and I decided to give it a try. My husband had been thinking he would put them up at Extended Stay America and I just wanted to find something more homey, and more comfortable. This place was absolutely perfect for them. They were originally only going to stay there for part of the time to save money, but after being there the first week, they decided that they wanted to stay there for the remainder of the time that we were in town so we quickly booked the rest of the time we needed. We were lucky it was available when we needed it as it is a popular cottage! Not only was the cottage clean and comfortable and had a lovely outside area for them to enjoy and even a pool, the hosts, Jim and Charlene, couldn't have been nicer. They left little goodies for my in-laws in the kitchen and helped them with advice about getting around when we weren't available. Several times, instead of family gatherings here at my house, my in-laws invited us to their cottage for dinner or a swim or to play board games out in the garden or watch a movie with them in the living room. There was plenty of room and it was a very pleasant experience for us all. We now have a perfect "go to" place for visitors when we don't have enough space for everyone at our house! "

" This is a great place to stay if you want to switch from corporate lodging to a place you can call home. We travel often, so having the advantage to stay at a home away from home is a luxury. Upon arriving, you walk into a clean, modern apartment in a cottage. You have: a kitchen with all of the essentials; a bathroom with fresh towels; a living room with fireplace; Internet and Roku TV; and a bedroom with sheets that are fresh, colorful 600+ thread-count cotton accented with a duvet, cover and pillows. The hands-on “espresso” coffee (light, medium or dark) is essential for hard working days nights. Expect a delivery of fresh farm eggs and/or local produce -a nice surprise and complement to the bacon we planned to make for evening dinners. We stayed 2 nights and 3 days in this cottage, worked all day in the Sonoma Valley and returned every evening to the closest thing we can call home. This whole experience was supported by an efficient and secure booking system at CrashMyPad. "

" Hi - Nancy is a wonderful Host and we really enjoyed her farm. We ended up arriving very late both times we stayed there but Nancy had provided some fresh eggs and bread and butter, a great coffee maker too. The water from the tap is delicious. She made it easy to find the entrance to the farm and our cottage even though we were bleary eyed and arriving at 2 AM The kitchens are very nice and functional. The bathrooms and showers are also comfortable and work well. She also has a hot tub and sauna. We were busy and didn't get to use them but wish we could have. Also, she has wonderful outdoor sitting areas all over the farm and offers her fresh produce for your dinner as well. The cottages are clean, nicely laid out and interesting. The farm, while small is a working farm with chickens and her new mini pigs among other residents. It isn't manicured like a golf course. There are lots of things going on at the farm and so it looks that way. And as a farm you need to remember to shut the gates! We loved our stay, convinced a friend to come the second week, and plan to return. We highly recommend it! "

" We absolutely loved our stay in Hawaii Kai. The location is perfect. It's close to a large shopping center where we stop by and stock up on our necessities daily and it has several restaurants there too. It's minutes from Hanauma Bay and many great and secluded beaches. We loved being able to join the craziness that is downtown Honolulu during the day and then retreat to our cozy and comfy room in a quiet neighborhood at night. Our hosts were very accommodating with our arrival/departure schedule and very gracious about the shared common spaces. We had full access to the kitchen and laundry room as well as beach towels, mats, cooler, and boards. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Hawaii. We will definitely recommend this to all our friends and family. Q & D. "

" Crashed this pad during March and though it was a little cold to swim in ocean, we had a wonderful time. The apartment gives you a beautiful view of the ocean and deck to enjoy it from. This cozy apartment was perfect for our group of friends especially because it was right on the ocean and right around where ever we wanted to travel in Myrtle Beach. The only negative is that with both the Master bed out and the couch pulled out, it was a little cramped with four people. However, we truly enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this to friends. " Just returned from an outstanding week-long stay here with my family. If you're looking for a place to stay with some character, look no further, this is the spot. It's filled (and I mean filled) with art and books, has a great ocean view and easy access to two secluded beaches. The house is clean, fully furnished and very, very fun. If you can't have a good time here, check your pulse, you might be dead. The only thing I would tell someone not familiar with the Northern California coast is that the little town of Westport is rather remote and sleepy. We didn't see a soul the entire time we were there, but that suited us just fine. If you want shopping and restaurants go somewhere else entirely. If you want to explore the coast, go beachcombing, make art, cook meals, relax and party you could not ask for a better place. "

" My husband and I spent a week in this lovely home during our daughter's wedding. The house was an oasis for us during this busy time! " We held a 5 day, 3-generation family reunion at this location between Christmas and New Year's day, utilizating 2 of the units. Nancy, the owner, was in contact with us before we arrived and had the units warmed and ready provided us with all the details necessary for our comfort including fresh eggs from the farm in the fridge. She was helpful throughout the visit giving us a tour of all the facilities and the unique features offered in addition to the accommodations. The units have comfortable beds, a distinct Asian theme and are actually small libraries containing hundreds of old and new books plus a hot tub (which got lots of use by the younger generation) and a sauna. The small farm is in Indian Valley, a very pretty area of mostly small horse ranches and oak trees in the south part of Novato. The town center is composed of several blocks of 2-story buildings consisiting of small businesses/stores and ample eating places with the usual big box national entities on the periphery and outskirts. We made ample use of the beautiful surrounding areas with spectacular drives to the Point Reyes National Park and lighthouse and through the Sonoma Valley wine country. A bonus is the closeness to San Francisco for easy day trips. The WiFi still needs some work as reception was spotty, most likely due to the valley location. No regular TV service but ample CD's for movies. Nancy is still working on this. For multiple family or friends' gatherings, this destination is a unique, comfortable and memorable experience. "

" Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. The cottages are all beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen was fully furnished (coffee maker and good coffee, toaster, etc) and there were even fresh eggs and fruit in the fridge for us when we arrived! The area itself is lovely, and we greatly enjoyed relaxing in the garden, both during the day when we could see the valley and at night, with all the beautiful lights Nancy has strung up. Nancy, the owner, was welcoming, funny and amazingly helpful. We were in the area looking for a rental house and she was able to give us invaluable information on the different neighborhoods and areas we were looking at. One of my favorite parts of our stay was our conversations with her. We will recommend Nancy's permaculture farm to all our friends and family and hope to stay there again! "

" This 1 bedroom with a bath was like renting a house for a fraction of the cost. The hosts were very polite, friendly and accommodating. This house is located in Hawaii Kai which is away from all the traffic in downtown Waikiki. The best beaches are only 15-20 minutes away without the crowds. The rental was like I had my own private entry way to a nice house with all the amenities. If you are coming to Honolulu but do not want to deal with traffic and a bunch of people consider staying in Hawaii Kai. My next stay will be in Hawaii Kai. I just hope that this place is available when I return. "

" I rented this cottage for my 80-year old parents who came from the Netherlands for three weeks because it was close enough to where I live that they could walk over for breakfast. Instead, I spent more time with them at the farm because they enjoyed so much the natural setting and the sunny gardens. The vegetable garden was full of things to pick and eat, and of course the fresh eggs! My parents are great hikers and nature lovers, so they could sit for hours overlooking the orchard commenting on the birds and butterflies. It was the perfect stay for them, for us so much better than trying to crowd them on a futon in the living room of my small apartment. Also, it was so close to great hikes in West Marin and Sonoma. Most of all, knowing they were safe and comfortable (and that someone was looking after them a bit) made me more relaxed to truly enjoy their long visit. "

" Our stay in Nancy's 2-bdrm place was more than satisfactory. The place has so much space, is cozy, nicely decorated, and it has pretty much everything we needed and more: a well equipped kitchen, linens, 3 dining tables, living room areas with lots of great books and games, a comfy entertainment area with a great dvd collection, outdoor seating spaces with a barbecue grill, a laundry room, soft tub and sauna! This place is better than any hotel. It is really quiet at night and the stars look amazing. The owner, Nancy, is friendly and accommodating and we found she had many things in common with us! We used the place for a family gathering and it was perfect. Spacious and broken up into different seating/conversation areas outside and inside, and the visiting adults and kids loved checking out the chickens. Although it is a farm, with gravel driveways and has some work in progress areas, the place has a pleasing appearance and the inside of every unit Nancy rents (she encouraged us to visit them) is very carefully and beautifully set and well maintained. Also, we got our security deposit back only a few days after the last day we stayed there! We will definitely rent a unit at Nancy's again when we go back to northern California. Thank you Nancy! "

" This was the perfect location for my visit to ATX. I used to live in Austin, and this pad was the perfect size for 1 or 2 people. It had everything I needed, close to all the places I like to frequent, as well as friends, restaurants, and nightlife. The bed was comfortable and the accomodations made me feel like a local again. Thanks Joe! I will definately stay here again next year for my long, weekend sabbatical! "

" The whale house was the perfect spot for our Northern California adventure -- a breathtaking drive up the twisty coast from San Fancisco and a doable day trip to Avenue of the Giants. The house was immaculately clean and had all we needed for a cozy stay -- helpful guidebooks, a good place to cook and a do-it-yourself art project for a zany personal touch. One warning if you have kids: the posted pictures don't accurately show how much stuff is in the house. We had to remove a lot of low-hanging art to keep our 1-year-old from impaling himself on a rusty tack heart (you'll see what I mean when you get there). Come with a sense of adventure and a sense of humor -- for odd and sundry anatomical folk art-- and you'll love the place. Good luck with the whale sculpture, Kyle! We can't wait for our Jack to come back and see his tile. "

" Jim and Charlene couldn't have been nicer, friendlier, and more welcoming. The cottage was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and suited our needs nicely. It's not going to win any awards in Architecture Monthly or Home Decorating Journal, but we enjoyed the simple comforts of home without the anonymous feel of a hotel and had a kitchen to prepare dinner and coffee and breakfast each morning. It made our weekend stay easy. "

" We had a great experience here. The cottage is comfortable and cozy, and it is located right by everything -- a block or two away from the grocery store, restaurants etc. -- but still just a short drive from the beach. Martha is a lovely host. I hope to come back sometime! "

" I cannot emphasize enough just how true the owner's comment were that the unit is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. We expected minimal 2-bedroom accommodation and instead found a well-furnished, decent-sized house. Things that were potential downers: the property is very much a work in progress. If you're expecting an agro-tourism resort, well, this is not what you'll get. There are chickens, soft-fruit trees, vegetables, and some B&B amenities such as a spa. The driveway is gravel and you need to follow standard farmer's gate protocol: if it's open, leave it open, if it's shut, then shut it after you. And some parts of the property are still being worked on, though the work is not disruptive. I enjoyed the crowing of nearby roosters and the cries of peacocks. That might not be to everyone's liking. There were fresh eggs, fruit and vegetables in the fridge when we arrived. The owner is on the premises and is quite friendly and accommodating (We found that we had a lot in common). The books on the shelves are actually ones that I wanted to read, not some random selection of cast-offs or airport novels. In my opinion, this was unexpectedly good Marin accommodation for the price, and we would not hesitate to stay here again when the opportunity arises. "

" Wow! What a great find!! A lovely place, quiet area, very close to SoCo and anywhere else you need to go. This place is beautifully done and very well stocked. I was very, very pleased with my stay and will definitely be booking again here!! In the area I highly recommend Amy's Ice Cream (walking distance), Home Slice, Torchy's Tacos and of course Hey Cupcake! We had a blast in Austin but most of it was due to these wonderful accommodations. Thanks!! :) "

" Top notch experience. The house is quaintly decorated and very close to the heart of SoCo Austin. The check-in process was easy and there was a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival. I would definitely recommend in lieu of staying at a hotel. Crashmypad contacts you almost immediately after checking out for an address to send the security deposit and the check arrived within a couple of days. Wonderfully smooth transaction. "

" I am so glad I stayed here for one night, and something tells me I'll be back. I was expecting very rustic accommodations, because it's a farm. The cottages look rustic from the outside, but once inside, I was very pleasantly surprised. The place was immaculate, the kitchen fully equipped for meals (down to a spice rack), and the bed was very comfortable. But what truly made this place a great stay is the owner, Nancy. She let me hold a chicken! :) For me, her warm hospitality made this the preferable stay over a run-of-the-mill hotel. Plus, you are just 20 minutes or so away from Sonoma. Next time, I will bring a bathing suit for the sauna, a couple of DVDs, and some fresh veggies to make a meal. "

" We had a wonderful visit. Martha is a great host, the cottage was exactly as expected. We love Point Reyes National Seashore so we hiked and biked and then crashed at the cottage to read and watch the birds in the trees. The town is very quiet, and you can walk to the bakery, three or four restaurants, the bank, hardware, and a decent grocery. Not to mention all the little shops. Great for a long weekend! "

" A charming little cottage very near to the heart of downtown Point Reyes Station, yet totally separate and quiet. The furnishings are simple but lovely and the electric heaters in the cottage keep it warm easily. There is also a wood-burning stove with plenty of firewood supplied. A special "extra" is a bed-warming pad underneath the sleeping surface (that can be turned off once in bed). The owner is gracious and available to help with any needs, if desired. All in all, this is a wonderful retreat for one person or a couple. "

" Things You Need to Know: Location: Perfect. You are at the end of the Village with all its cafes and nightlife without the boom boom sleeplessness of being in its center. Better still, you have easy access to Cartier bridge for runs & bike trips to the park and shorefront. And downtown is there. Bike rental stations (2 each within 2 blocks). Metro right there. Hosts: Carefree & friendly. They run things professionally, but with a casual feeling. This is nice since you can really ask them for suggestions and not receive a typical hotel response. And they live and work there, so there's a sense of calm that's not present in most places one can find on here. Do yourself a favor and get lost. Montreal is lovely everywhere. When you venture far and away, it will be easy to find your way back to the OASIS. "
