* Security Deposit is $200.
o The Security Deposit will be returned upon your departure provided everything is clean, in working order, and the key is returned.
* Minimum reservation: 3 nights
* Check-in and check-out: We are flexible, but if someone is coming in directly after you we will need to arrange a mutually agreeable time so the room can be cleaned prior to their arrival.
* No smoking in the house
* No pets as we already have a couple wandering around the house.
* In Hawaii it is common practice to remove your shoes before coming in the house.
* Clean up after yourself in the public areas of the house. particularly the kitchen. Bugs are prevalent in the tropics.

About This Property
Thank you for your interest in our guest room. Hawaii Kai is located east of Honolulu about 20 minutes from Waikiki. It is a well kept bedroom community close to shopping, movies, grocery stores, and restaurants. It is near the Hawaii Kai Golf Course, Hawaii Kai marina, beaches, hiking, surfing, and other water sports.
We get varied ocean breezes and nights are generally comfortable sleeping. There is no air conditioning or heat in the house, you need to open or close the window louvers to control temperature and breeze and put on a sweater if by chance it dips into the high 60s (very unusual). The guest room also has a ceiling fan.
The guest room has a queen sized bed with a very comfortable Vera Wang mattress, a full bath, a large closet, cable TV, and wireless internet. It is a clean, comfortable, and private room off the front of the house giving easy accessibility to come and go as you please through the front door.
Parking for your car is available on the street in front of the house. The Bus public transportation pick up is one block away. Some guests have used The Bus exclusively and it worked just fine for them however it is recommended that you have a car.
The common areas in the home include a lanai, fully equipped kitchen, patio with a gas grill, laundry room, and part of the music studio.
We are a low key couple in our 50s. This is a casual and relaxed environment, no drama or erratic behavior. We are friendly if you want to talk and we will leave you alone if you want your privacy.
I am a home based employee for a software company and am home most of the time.
John is a music instructor that teaches and has students come to the house for private lessons. On the weekends the lessons can begin as early as 8am. IF YOU LIKE TO SLEEP IN ON THE WEEKENDS THIS MAY NOT BE THE PLACE FOR YOUR. We will let you know when lessons are scheduled in the house, typically throughout the afternoon/early evening during the week.
We have extensive knowledge about the island and can advise you on where to go and how to get there. If you need beach towels, coolers, chairs, etc, just ask.

It was fabulous! The best place I've ever stayed in Hawaii and I have stayed many places. Our hosts were easy going, kind, helpful, friendly. Even their pets had the aloha spirit. Would recommend to everyone and I will.

We absolutely loved our stay in Hawaii Kai. The location is perfect. It's close to a large shopping center where we stop by and stock up on our necessities daily and it has several restaurants there too. It's minutes from Hanauma Bay and many great and secluded beaches. We loved being able to join the craziness that is downtown Honolulu during the day and then retreat to our cozy and comfy room in a quiet neighborhood at night.
Our hosts were very accommodating with our arrival/departure schedule and very gracious about the shared common spaces. We had full access to the kitchen and laundry room as well as beach towels, mats, cooler, and boards. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Hawaii. We will definitely recommend this to all our friends and family. Q&D.

Relaxing, comfortable and practical. Hosts were welcoming and helpful and provided me with everything I needed. Safe, clean and calm house in quiet neighborhood. Plenty of privacy. I would return.

This 1 bedroom with a bath was like renting a house for a fraction of the cost. The hosts were very polite, friendly and accommodating. This house is located in Hawaii Kai which is away from all the traffic in downtown Waikiki. The best beaches are only 15-20 minutes away without the crowds. The rental was like I had my own private entry way to a nice house with all the amenities. If you are coming to Honolulu but do not want to deal with traffic and a bunch of people consider staying in Hawaii Kai. My next stay will be in Hawaii Kai. I just hope that this place is available when I return.
