Enjoy banana smoothies every morning -- nature's food comes with the rental -- pick from the trees or pull from the freezer, year-round! The corner food island blesses you seasonally with passion fruit, mango and avocado. Chives, rosemary, oregano, basil, mint, and sassafras are abound. Lettuce, Okinawan spinach, cherry tomatoes and beans are typically available to pick. You are welcomed with a tour and an opportunity to dig sweet potatoes while admiring blooms in paradise.

Step forward to semi off-grid and sustainable living. And if you are contemplating a yurt purchase, this is the perfect test with complimentary consultation to construct on Hawaii.

Fully furnished for two adults with two twin-size beds (futon + air mattress on frame). Inquire for options to suit couples or 3 people. Use of towels, toiletries, bedding, kitchen accessories, and condiments included. TV-monitor for movies supplied or rent DVDs nearby. Arrive with full propane tank and take an aromatherapy bath. (Bath tubs are rare in rentals). Gas refills are DIY (6 miles from residence) or $40 service fee. Drinking water is also supplied and refills are nearby. The Pahoa laundromat is only a 5-mile drive. Internet laptop connection in the yurt is by cell phone; queries are welcome.

No air conditioning; a ceiling and table fan help you enjoy the clean air. Water catchment plumbing is common in the rain forest and the yurt includes a tank-less water heater. Although the windows and doors are screened, wandering geckos that enjoy the sport of eating mosquitoes and flies may visit you. Composting is a natural in the tropics. Culinary linens are made from worn textiles and most glassware consists of reused jars. Cook and tableware accommodate 3 people.

Typically, your stay requires a 3-day minimum advance reservation. Feel free to inquire about service options. The kitchen may be stocked for your arrival. Catering, chauffeuring, guided tours, and delivery services are also offered by reservation.

Do be forewarned of wildlife sounds from nature. Coqui frogs sing to you during twilight and roosters crow in the region. Also know that nature's rainforest includes mosquitoes; -- precautions are shared if you wish :)

My wife and I had a wonderful time. At first she (my wife) was very skeptical but after we got there and relaxed we had a great time. We enjoyed the night time frogs singing and the rain on the roof at night was very comforting. The Yurt had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A great memory!
